Binghamton Senators win 5-4

October 28, 2007 - By

The Rochester Americans fought a tough battle tonight against the Binghamton Senators, but had too little too late in the 5-4 loss at Blue Cross Arena.

Clark MacArthur returned to the lineup after missing Saturday nights game against the Syracuse Crunch and made his mark with a goal and two assists.

Before the game in an interview with Don Stevens, Randy Cunneyworth stated the the word “inconsistent” is what can sum up this team so far this season, which was apparent during tonights game.  While we got ‘crunched’ on Saturday night, we played a much better game tonight.

At 5:31 of the first period, after Bobby Robins, newcomer to the Amerks, layed out Greg Amadio of the Senators, they dropped there gloves and helmets and squared off to entertain the crowd with a quick fight.

Marc-Andre Gragnani assisted on the first goal of the game as he fed a great pass from behind the net to David Brine who slid the puck into the net.  Brian Lee tied the score at 1-1 a couple minutes later with a power play goal on what was basically a carbon copy of Brines goal.

Dan Collins of the Americans committed a lousy turnover as he was working on getting the puck out of his own end he let the puck slip off his stick which allowed Jason Mapletoft of the Binghamton Senators to walk right in on Shantz and put the score at 4-1.

The Amerks put up a tough fight in the third as they to make it a 4-2 game off a goal by Zagrapan, but the Senators responded just over a minute later with a goal by Greg Mauldin to make it a 5-2 game.

Dylan Hunter scored a power play goal, and Clark MacArthur scored a short handed goal to make it a 5-4 game but the team just couldn’t get another past the Senators.

The Rochester Americans play next on Thursday night at the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7pm.  Anthony Stewart was sent back to the Amerks by the Florida Panthers and should be in action (assuming the Panthers stay healthy).
