Amerks Prepare for ANOTHER Busy Weekend

For the fifth time in five weeks the Amerks have a very loaded schedule on their plates with three games in three nights once again this weekend.

Some would say this is tourture on a team that is struggling in the beginning of a tough season.  I would say those people are correct.

The Rochester Americans have played more games than any other team in the league in October.  Put that together with call ups from both parent teams and injuries happening on our own ice, and you have a tired, overworked bunch of young guys who could use a break.

Anthony Stewart will be a welcomed addition to the team this weekend after being sent back down the the Amerks after a stint playing for the Panthers.  The Amerks should also be able to expect Andrej Sekera back by the end of the weekend as well with Jaroslav Spacek expected to return Thursday for the Buffalo Sabres.

Currently the team’s scoring leader is Clarke MacArthur with 14 points in his eleven games.  MacArthur is also the league leader in points.

Stefan Meyer isn’t very far behind with 8 points in eleven games.  Meyer even came back into the game against Syracuse Saturday night (10/27) after being injured just to score a goal before leaving the game with a strained ACL.  He should return in about a week.

The Amerks’ first game is on Thursday against the Grand Rapid Griffins at 7:00 PM at the Van Andel Arena.  The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.

The second game of the home and home series with the Griffins is on Friday night at 7:35 PM at the Blue Cross Arena.  This game is also another Friday Night Frenzy and a AAA discount night.  Anyone who is a AAA member can show their membership card and receive 100 End Seating for $10.00 each (regular $16.00) or 200 End Seating for $10.00 each (regular $12.00).

On Saturday night the Amerks are home again against the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Hamilton Bulldogs.  The game begins at 7:35 PM.  Be prepared for a heated match up between these divisional rivals.
