The Comeback Kids: Amerks Win From Behind In Hamilton

The Rochester Americans won their 4th straight tonight against the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-4 in a shoot out.

After going down 4-0, it was a miracle that the Rochester Americans brought home one point tonight, let alone two.  After winning three games straight the Amerks started to show that they lost key players starting the game against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Amerks were outshot by nearly 20 shots for most of the game and it was showing.  With goals by Cory Urquhart, Duncan Milroy, Maxim Lapierre, and Matt D’Agostini, the Amerks needed a big boast to get things going.  They got that at the end of the second period from Marc-Andre Gragnani who scored at 17:51 on the powerplay.

The third period was controlled by the Rochester Americans from the start.  Dylan Hunter led the scoring in the 3rd with his 6th goal of the season at 3:09.  Stefan Meyer and Marek Zagrapan scored within a 30 seconds of each other at 6:21 and 6:47 respectively.

The Amerks held on for the last 13 minutes of the game to take it into overtime.  There was no scoring there and it went right to a shootout.  Adam Dennis held on, letting no goals in, to get two points over the Bulldogs.  Scoring for the Amerks in the shootout were Stefan Meyer and Mark Mancari.

Adam Dennis saved 28 of 32 shots tonight in goal.  The Amerks only had 19 shots on goal for the game.

It was an extreemly rough game for both teams with 56 combined penalty minutes relating to fights that took place.  Two game misconducts were handed out to the Bulldogs.  Maxim Lapierre got one for Persisting a fight at 12:33 of the second period and Ryan O’Byrne got one for instigating at 17:33 in the second.

Tomorrow night, the Rochester Americans travel down the thruway to Syracuse to defend their honor.  The last time the Amerks were in the ‘Cuse, they lost 9-2.  The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.

On Sunday night, the Amerks are at home against the Chicago Wolves.  This game is part of “Supercuts Sundays,” kids ages 2-12 can get tickets for $6.00, game time is at 6:05pm!  This game will also be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, wktk.com and B2 networks.
