Amerks Sign Ross Carlson to AHL Contract

ROCHESTER SIGNS ROSS CARLSON TO AHL CONTRACT

Ross Carlson(Rochester, NY)… Rochester Americans Director of Player Personnel Jody Gage announced today the club has signed Ross Carlson to a two-way American Hockey League contract. He becomes the fifth U.S. born player to wear the red, white and blue for Rochester this season.

“Ross came in and did a good job for us last year,” said Gage. “He is a solid two-way player and had a great season down with the Everblades (Florida-ECHL) and signing him will provide great depth for our organization.”

Carlson, 27, enters his third full season of professional hockey in 2009-10 after registering two points (1+1) in three games last season with the Amerks. The Duluth, Minnesota, native spent most of the 2008-09 campaign with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, where he compiled a career-high 22 assists and finished eighth on the team with 36 points (14+22) in 52 games. He also scored a team best seven goals and nine points in 11 postseason contests for Florida.

In his pro career, he has notched 36 goals and 47 assists for 83 points in 130 games. In 29 career AHL games with the Providence, Rockford, Houston, Peoria and Rochester, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward has four goals and five assists for nine points, while also skating in four playoff games.

Prior to turning pro, Carlson had a productive four-year (2003-07) collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin, notching 34 goals and 58 assists for 92 points in 133 games. He posted his best season during his sophomore campaign, collecting highs with 12 goals and 29 points for the Badgers.
