I am very happy with the way the Amerks have been playing! That’s all I will say in fear of jinxing things lol. I am disappointed that people haven’t been showing up to the games! I saw your article entitled “This is OUR City” and I will say I feel the reason people haven’t been showing up is because the product the past 3 years has been poor. I find it ironic that I’ve been away at college for 3 years and now that I have graduated and started going to the games, they are performing well! If the season continues like this people will start showing up. I would comment about the future of this season, but it’s still young so I will just leave it with that.

I was also at the game last night and I agree with Mike about being disappointed when it came to people standing up for Plante. I can’t remember the EXACT number of times they ran into him and knocked him down and the players didn’t do anything about it! Neither did the ref’s for that matter. The only time I saw a player do something, if I remember correctly was Bonneau in the 2nd period after they ran into Plante. But whoever did something about it, received a penalty, but I give the player credit and stood up and applauded because it was about time one of the players did something!

Great game but Icame away with one negative— as the Jr. Sens continued to run our goalie, I was completely disappointed that not one of Plante’s ‘teammates’ stood up and said “enough” and defend him. This just shouldn’t happen. I do not care if you are not the tough guy,I do not care if you are on the other side of the ice, I do not care if the ref might call a penalty (either way- altho that was obvious that it was not going to happen). Hard to use this word so early in a season with a great start, but what I saw was just plain gutless!!
if you don’t know how to do it, all you have to do is go back to last weeks Sabres game … Miller was run and Gaustad, without stopping to think, without taking is gloves off neatly, without assuming the boxing position, simply and immediatly took matters into his own hands and DEFENDED his goalie.

Sorry to be so negative, but if this is how tough we are going to be, the road will only get bumpier…. in my opinion.
