Panthers Call up Alexander Salak

December 1, 2009 - By

Alexander Salak vs Crunch 10-25-2009The move that was expected has become official, Alexander Salak will board a flight in the morning to Florida. Based on the reports coming out of Florida there’s still a chance Vokoun could dress for the game but Salak will be needed if he’s not able to.

Alexander Salak led the Amerks to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose on Tuesday night in Manitoba.  Salak has won 15 games this season.  His only loss came on November 12th against the Portland Pirates.

Hopefully Salak will be back for the games on Saturday and Sunday against Abbotsford.

Chris Beckford-Tseu is expected to get the start for the Amerks on Wednesday night, we all know the history with him.  Hopefully he shows up and plays the best game of his career.

Amerks Win 4-1 on the Road in Manitoba

December 1, 2009 - By

“We are happy the third period worked pretty well for us today,” is what Alexander Salak said on the Moose post game show.  That was the key to the Amerks 18th win of the season on Tuesday against the Manitoba Moose.  The final score was 4-1 with goals scored by Repik, Mink, Garrison, and Dadonov.

It’s interesting to note that last season at this point the Amerks were 3-18-1, now they are 18-3-1.  Very impressive turnaround.

I often find it interesting to find a defining moment in a game and tonight I think there was two of those.  The first was the Amerks doing a great job killing off a four minute high sticking call to Brady Calla.  The second was the Evgeny Dadonov goal at 14:53 of the third period to give the Amerks the 4-1 lead.  A strong third period and a three goal lead is what the Amerks need to make sure to do every game to be able to hold on to win.

Alexander Salak was outstanding in goal again but will be leaving the team in the morning.

Plante and Vokoun Injuries; Beckford-Tseu Called Up

December 1, 2009 - By

Monday turned out to be a busy day for all of the goalies in the Florida Panthers organization.  Had some other things planned today so I’m a little late to the party.  Chances are you know these things already, but I still wanted to post to keep everything up to date.

** As noted during the game on Saturday night it looked as if Tyler Plante was favoring his knee again and it turns out he was.  Plante did not make the trip out west with the team.  His knee became swollen and for goalies trying to make butter fly saves, that’s not a good thing.  If he was a player he said he would be just fine.  He could be out another week, it could be a few more weeks.

** Chris Beckford-Tseu was called up to backup Alexander Salak on the road trip and possibly beyond.

** Tomas Vokoun suffered a laceration to the ear on Monday night at the hands of his own player.  Keith Ballard swung his stick trying to hit the post in frustration after a Thrashers goal but instead hit Vokoun in the head.
