Amerks Hoping for Big Crowd on Friday for Regular Season Finale

It’s hard to believe that the Amerks will finish their regular season at home on Friday night in the 40th game of the season against the Toronto Marlies.  The season has had it’s highs and lows but all of that is behind us for now with the team definitely heading into the postseason.

Home game attendance is an issue that has been and can continue to be debated with the Amerks averaging 4,166 fans per game through 39 games.  A disappointing number but one probably reason is below .500 play since December.  All of that should be behind us as the team has reached it’s goal of making the playoffs.  Everything changes so come on out to cheer on the team in it’s last regular season home game of the season against the Toronto Marlies prior to the playoffs.

The Amerks hope to end the season in a big way though on Friday night as they’ve teamed up with Seneca Gaming Corporation to sponsor a ticket voucher initiative.  It’s the same initiative that led to the Rochester Knighthawks selling out their game on March 27th against the Buffalo Bandits.

When asked, Rochester Americans President Lewis Staats said, “Seneca Gaming is sponsoring the ticket voucher initiative that resulted in the sell-out for the Knighthawks game against Buffalo last Saturday night.  The tickets are not free tickets as Seneca Gaming does pay the Knighthawks and Amerks for each ticket voucher that is redeemed by the fans who come to the game.  We are targeting to have a similar results for the Amerks last regular season home game on April 9th  as Seneca has agreed to add this game to this voucher redemption initiative.”

The game on Friday will also be a night that sections 211-217 will be closed, a preview of things to come starting next season.  Given the sponsorship of the game with the Seneca Gaming Corporation it’s very possible that a capacity crowd of around 7,668 could be seen for the first time this season.  It’s also the last night of the dollar beer and hot dogs which has been a great success all season.

Al Arbor will also be available in the atrium signing autographs as the Seneca Gaming Amerks Legends Series finished up for the 2009-2010 season.
