Amerks Win and Score 10 Goals for the First Time Since 2006

It’s all about how you come back from previous games.

The Rochester Americans rebounded in a big way winning 10-3 against the Binghamton Devils after being shutout 5-0 by the same team last Saturday. On Wednesday night the Amerks lost in overtime in a back and forth game losing 6-5.

The team played 60 minutes of hockey creating turnovers, winning puck battles and working as a team.

14 different players put up points on the scoresheet tonight with Evan Rodrigues lead the way with two goals and two assists.

Here are the totals: Allen (1A), Porter (2A), Moses (1G+2A), Baptiste (1A), Malone (1G), Rodrigues (2G+2A), CJ Smith (1G+1A), Cornel (1A), Fasching (2G), Gill (3A), Nelson (1A), Blackwell (1A), Guhle (1G), Nylander (1G+1A). Linus Ullmark made 29 saves tonight as the winning goalie.

“We played the right way and thats what we want to do,” Chris Taylor said after the game. “If we’re down three goals or up three goals every shift we play the right way and we play the same way.”

The last time the Amerks scored 10 goals in a game was December 16, 2006 against the Binghamton Senators. Some other goal scorers that night were Stefan Meyer (3G), Drew Stafford (2G), Marek Zagrapan (2G), Dylan Hunter, Kamil Kreps and Clarke MacArthur. Craig Anderson was the winning goalie that night. This was during a dual affiliation season with the Florida Panthers.

Amerks hit the road on Saturday to face off against Binghamton again.

Chris Taylor said, “We want to make sure we’re a humble team and ready to go tomorrow.”

Rodrigues on the overall Amerks team right now, “Probably the first room I’ve been in in a while that guys really enjoy coming to the rink and spending time together and that’s why we’re doing so well.”

  1. Amerks are now averaging 3.5 goals per game which is fourth best in the league and best in their division so goal scoring is not the problem most thought it would be! If we could get the defence to play to its potential and continue with the goal scoring pace then we should be able to compete with Toronto for the division.
