The Comeback Kids: Amerks Win From Behind In Hamilton

November 9, 2007 - By

The Rochester Americans won their 4th straight tonight against the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-4 in a shoot out.

After going down 4-0, it was a miracle that the Rochester Americans brought home one point tonight, let alone two.  After winning three games straight the Amerks started to show that they lost key players starting the game against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Amerks were outshot by nearly 20 shots for most of the game and it was showing.  With goals by Cory Urquhart, Duncan Milroy, Maxim Lapierre, and Matt D’Agostini, the Amerks needed a big boast to get things going.  They got that at the end of the second period from Marc-Andre Gragnani who scored at 17:51 on the powerplay.

The third period was controlled by the Rochester Americans from the start.  Dylan Hunter led the scoring in the 3rd with his 6th goal of the season at 3:09.  Stefan Meyer and Marek Zagrapan scored within a 30 seconds of each other at 6:21 and 6:47 respectively.

The Amerks held on for the last 13 minutes of the game to take it into overtime.  There was no scoring there and it went right to a shootout.  Adam Dennis held on, letting no goals in, to get [...]Read More

Three game weekend; Bulldogs, Crunch, Wolves

November 8, 2007 - By

On Friday night the Rochester Americans begin another three game weekend in Hamilton against the Bulldogs, followed by Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, and a home game against the Chicago Wolves on Sunday.

The Amerks are coming off of two consecutive three game weekends and are on a three game winning streak.

The team will possibly be without many key players, Clarke MacArthur and Anthony Stewart were both recalled to the NHL earlier this week.  Both players have played an important role in the games they’ve played, MacArthur leading the way with the most points in the AHL.

Also still in the NHL are Kamil Kreps and Andrej Sekera.  Other players who may still be out due to injuries are Drew Larman (Seperated Shoulder – expected return the weekend of Nov 9th), Kenndal McArdle (Broken Jaw – weeks away from return), Mike Funk (Groin – Day 2 Day), and Jassen Cullimore (Groin – Day 2 Day).

Patrick Kaleta is expected to be back on the ice this weekend after recovering from a groin injury.  He has played in only two games this season due to reinjuring his groin in his second game back.

Friday’s game in Hamilton against the Bulldogs begins at 7:30PM.  The Amerks look for [...]Read More

On Thursday, Hunter had one assist in the Amerks 3-1 win in Grand Rapids.  Back at home in Rochester on Friday, Dylan had a great game.  He registered two goals and three assists.  This gave him a hand in every goal in the 5-3 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins.  Again on Saturday, he had another assist in the 3-0 shutout of the Hamilton Bulldogs.

In honor of this award, Dylan Hunter will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Americans home game (TBA).
