More Bandaids for the BCA

Post by UncleBenny » Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:36 am

The city issued a request for proposals today to upgrade the bathrooms, audio, and visual systems at the Blue Cross Arena.

So, no concourse upgrades, no dining area enhancements, nothing with the seats or seating bowl at all. This is getting incredibly frustrating with the BCA now falling apart, as is apparent from the recent delayed game due to electrical issues. And here is the worst part, planned construction: Summer 2020. That's right, we'll be waiting for more than two years for any of this to happen, putting the arena further behind what many people consider modern standards. This is not good enough for a city of Rochester's size.

What a joke. We've discussed this on twitter. The city has a destination arena and pretends it's a middle school gym.

Glad you hit up the ESPN Rochester guys with this, they are going off on the topic. Like way farther than I thought they'd take it. This issue is never going to get fixed until it keeps getting publicity, not a day or two every year and then being forgotten for 6-8 more months.

The only other media person picking up on it is Fetes and he's just saying 'well we're better than Syracuse' after he's been there once. That's not ok!

(...but they did do something right last night at the Eastman...for the Music Hall of Fame show. It was incredible and as a surprise guest, Paul Simon appeared and played two tunes with Steve Gadd and Tony Levin and PrimeTime Funk....yes it was amazing)

This has carried over to The Break Room on WCMF. At least we're helping push this conversation! I wonder if anyone will pick it up.
