PSE buying the Knighthawks?

Post by keithLGA » Mon Jun 11, 2018 5:12 pm

There were rumblings over the weekend about PSE buying the Knighthawks from Curt Styres and today ESPN Rochester ran with it and had a line they were given saying, "worst kept secret in Rochester." Rules changed and one owner can own multiple teams. This would keep the Knighthawks in Rochester. I imagine one office handling both teams much like when Styres first bought the teams from Donner. Gives PSE more leverage with both main tenants of the arena.

I'd have some concern about the PSE empire. Maybe they'd care more about Rochester? They really haven't shown it other than taking our money.

I wasn't going to post much about the topic until the guys on the Sports Bar ran with it and I know they wouldn't go with some baseless rumors.

A Buffalo News reporting is mentioning this as well. A small rumbling has gained more and more credibility.

I mean, it's pretty obvious why they'd do it. I'm just worried that the Hawks would get stripped for parts and sent down the Thruway.

Could Buffalo support 2 NLL teams?

Oh, wait I think I get what you're saying now.

People would revolt if they started trading players back and forth to make one better than another. Great concern though. They need to establish someone to be in charge of the Knighthawks and leave them be.

Is this part of One Buffalo too? Disgusting that they're going to ruin another Rochester sports team.

Crap. This lame ownership group will just wreck what we have here in the Hawks. They have NO clue how to run sports franchises.

At least Styres cared and put his best foot forward in bringing the best possible teams here, and winning a few championships.

Maybe Kim will run this team too.....

After sleeping on this, my only hope is that with two teams here, they stop pushing Buffalo so hard an instead spend a little more time focusing on our own city(and arena). Unfortunately, nothing I have hoped for under PSE has happened, so I expect their ownership to be terrible.

All we can do is hope (again) that this builds into something locally vs just a couple of teams with headquarters in another city.
