Crunch at Amerks 10/10/2018

Post by keithLGA » Wed Oct 10, 2018 11:59 am

Looks like it could be a Wednesday night in February type crowd of around 2000 people. The team could be anxious to hit the road and get out of town for a few days if they don't pull out the win tonight.

MacWilliam is in, Fedun still out. Dougherty stays in for Hickey. Bailey and Randell are back in after sitting out Saturday.

The right talk (I know you guys love talk) about a bounce back game. Let's see what happens!

So far, the season has gotten off to a terrible start...on the ice, on the radio, at the concession stands, attendance.....all needs to improve quickly. So lets start tonite. No pressure...the place will be empty so the guys can concentrate on their game. Too early to start with the 'must win' mantra....except going 0-3. all at home would certainly not bode well at all. A lot will depend on how they play...if its dull and dead like last weekend, well...no more words needed.

Gotta win tonite.

Glad to see that after a slow start, they woke up and actually showed up to play an actual hockey game. 6-3 win over the crunch bunch....

After about ten minutes they got their heads out of their a$$es and played decently. Love beating Benoit's Boys.

That looked a lot better! The Amerks played well and walked all over them.

Helped that the place was empty. Announced at 2,300. Anyone have a guess as to how many were actually there. Two goals in the final minute (one in the final second) of a period spoiled what was a very decent effort by Wilcox. Too bad they got that 3rd one.
6 different goal scorers. #92 with one assist. I guess that means he's on the fast track back to Buffalo!
Not much from Bailey. I'm hoping he has a monster year with us...so far its the 'old' Bailey.

Good to get that first win under our belt. I felt it was as much of a must win as you can have in early October. Now its off to Connecticut for the weekend. I think Wilcox should get another start to see what he brings. Penalty kill was excellent. Power play also. Seemed like a completely different team tonite.

GOOD!

Wilcox was really good. Bailey stinks as usual and had a giveaway cost us a goal. Should have kept Baptiste and unloaded this slug.
Around 1300 in there....maybe.

took ten minutes but they took over form there. Would be nice to have Syracuse kind of down with Bingo, Bellville, Laval and Cleveland not being super contenders at this point. Amerks need to vastly improve in division this year. I think I ran some numbers last year and we creamed the east and struggled in division, even against the bottom teams. If Syracuse slips, I think Toronto & Utica should be the stiffest competition on paper. They need more of this effort. Bailey needs to be a permanent scratch. We need MacWilliam in every game. I think Borgen is a defensive minded d-man too. As he grows, the will allow others to step up and not leave us exposed like last weekend. I think the PP is going to be a deadly bunch. Olofsson & Redmond are going to be deadly in those spots. If Crisco & Smith can keep up the good work, that will help. I know one was in late garbage time, but I would like to see that third goal not happen. Didn't matter last night, but it may in the future. Otherwise, vastly better performance than the weekend.

It's funny that the local rag couldn't be bothered writing about the Amerks first win this season but there's an article on Ab McDonald in there. About 75% or more of their readers wouldn't know or care who he is.
