Amerks’ coach Randy Cunneyworth got his 300th win last night in a 5-3 victory against the Iowa Stars.

Marc-Andre Gragnani had a four point game against the Stars.  Gragnani started his season in Rochester as a defenseman but when the Amerks had a shortage of forwards he was moved to left wing.  His play has improved since moving to that position, as he was struggling as a defenseman with the worst +/- on the team.

Dylan Hunter also tallied four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the effort against the Stars.  He now has 33 points this season with 13 goals and 20 assists.  Last season in 67 games, Hunter has 28 points, showing his improvement.

Only 26 seconds into the first period it looked like business as usual when the Stars jumped to an early 1-0 lead when all-star center Toby Petersen put his 21st goal of the season past Tyler Plante.

The Amerks lost there third straight game against the Syracuse Crunch by the final score of 3-1 in Syracuse.  Randy Cunneyworth is still looking for win #300 and is probably hoping for it by the end of the season.  The only odd thing to report about the game is that during the first period apparently the Amerks consistently had a player at center ice trying to cherry pick.  It didn’t work.

I wasn’t able to listen or watch the game because all of the internet feeds of the game seemed to be down tonight (B2 Networks & Radio), and oddly enough I couldn’t find an AM radio in the house.

The Rochester Americans lost their third straight contest tonight, falling 3-1 to the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. With the loss, Rochester has now fallen to 2-5-0-1 against the Crunch and 17-36-4-4 this season.

Syracuse used three different goal scorers in Clay Wilson, Adam Pineault and Joakim Lindstrom to provide the scoring for the Crunch while Rochester’s lone goal came from the stick of defenseman Martin Lojek.

The company that usually makes the cards for team sets “goofed,” now it’s too late to have them made, so there won’t be a set of Amerks hockey cards this season.  The Amerks and Recognition Experts had all intentions of getting a set out this year, appears as though this is outside of there control.

The Amerks played an identicle game to Friday’s as they were shut out once again in a 4-0 loss.  Mike Weber took three rediculous penalties (one for four minutes after mouthing off).  The Aeros scored twice with Weber in the box.

In the first period the Amerks were the better team but goaltender Barry Brust kept the game at 0-0 going into the second.

After that, the Amerks never saw the light of day again.  Spending most of the second period trying to kill off Weber’s penalties proved to be too much for a team that is missing too many key players.

Peter Aston was out of yesterday’s lineup after taking a punch to the face from Danny Bois in Friday’s contest.  The team says he doesn’t have a concussion they were just taking precaution.  So, happy birthday Peter Aston.

In the third period fans became annoyed with the team.  From the balcony you could hear a man yelling, “STOP BEING LAZY STEWART!”  The Amerks had a chance to at least get one goal whenthey had a 5-on-3 opportunity late in the 3rd period.  But, they couldn’t even keep the puck in their own zone then.  That’s when the [...]Read More

 Brian Elliott made 37 saves to get a shutout against the Amerks tonight.  The Senators scored three power play goals in their 4-1 victory over the depleted Amerks.

The Amerks totaled 56 penalty minutes during tonight’s game including two ten minute game misconducts, one against Mark Mancari and one against Mike Funk.  At one point, the Amerks had four men in the penalty box with no room left to spare.

The fact that the Amerks are missing many players due to call-ups and injuries is truly starting to take a major toll on the way the team is playing.  They looked defeated before the game even started.

With the call-up of Marc-Andre Gragnani, the Amerks are now missing eight players.  Tanner Glass, Drew Larman, and Rob Globke are in Florida playing for the Panthers.  Clarke MacArthur, Patrick Kaleta and Marco Gragnani are playing for the Buffalo Sabres.  Mike Card is still getting headaches from his concussion while Kenndal McArdle is nursing a broken foot for the next few weeks.

 Adam Dennis lead the Amerks to a 2-1 over time victory tonight against the Albany River Rats with 39 saves, 33 of those coming in the first two periods.  In over time Franklin MacDonald received a pass from Stefan Meyer and took a shot from the point, Anthony Stewart scored the game winner off of the rebound.

The Rats took an early 1-0 lead when Jerome Samson was able to trickle a puck over the right shoulder of Adam Dennis on the power play.  Martin Lojek had been put in the penalty box on a weak holding penalty called by questionable referee Chris Ciamaga.

The Rats had seven power play opportunities but were only able to capitalize on one.

Marc-Andre Gragnani is quickly solidifying himself as Amerks rookie of the year after a rough start; he scored his seventh goal of the season at 8:27 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1.  He scored off of a perfect pass from Andrej Sekera.  This was the eight consecutive game in which he has tallied a point (three goals and 6 assists).
