The Amerks 12 Days of Christmas 2008 to 2011

The Amerks have continued the tradition in 2011 of having the players sing their own version of the 12 Days of Christmas.  Starting with 2008 and then this seasons is down at the bottom.  Derek Whitmore and Jacob Legace offer the best moments in this years.  It’s a shame they couldn’t squeeze in a “Legend of Joe Finley” somewhere.  Grab a hold of things that gain even a slight amount of popularity and run with it!  They’re all worth watching and are classics that will follow these guys through their careers.

Starting with 2008 and then 2011 at the bottom..

2008 featuring Drew Larman, Keaton Ellerby, Jordan Henry, Dan Collins, Franklin MacDonald, Tanner Glass, Michael Caruso, Riley Emmerson, Jason Garrison, David Shantz, Andrew Sweetland, Michal Repik

2009 featuring Tyler Plante, Mike Duco, Andrew Sweetland, Jimmy Bonneau, Shawn Matthias, David Brine, Brady Calla, Luke Beaverson, Evgeny Dadanov, Michal Repik, Jason Garison, Alexander Salak

2010 featuring Jacob Markstrom, Adam Comrie, AJ Jenks, Evgeny Dadanov, Brady Calla, Scott Timmins, Colby Robak, PJ Fenton, Eric Selleck, Paul Baier, Michael Caruso, Tyler Plant.  I’m missing two faces here, who are they?

Contract Status for Amerks Players Heading into Next Season

4
April 29, 2010 - By

Now that the season is over for the Rochester Americans it’s time to take a look and see who is still under contract with the Panthers or Amerks, who is and who is not still likely to sign.  I grouped players by signed, likely to sign and RFA and UFA.  Under each category I put some guesses about the status of the players.

Currently Under Contract for 10/11:

Coaches: Benoit Groulx and Jason Cipolla

Goalies: Alexander Salak, Marc Cheverie

Defense: Michael Caruso, Keaton Ellerby, Adam Comrie, James DeLory

Forwards: Evgeny Dadonov, Michal Repik, Brady Calla, Graham Mink, Chris Taylor, Shawn Matthias, Victor Oreskovich, Eric Selleck, AJ Jenks

One Way: Clay Wilson and Jeff Taffe are signed but to one way contracts with the Florida Panthers.  If they don’t fit into their plans it’s still possible the Panthers will try and have them clear waivers to be sent to the Amerks.

***** Shawn Matthias has probably played his last game in the AHL and should be able to earn a job with the Panthers going forward.  Keaton Ellerby will be trying to earn a job as well but he has some work ahead.  It’s amazing that James DeLory is still under [...]Read More

Panthers Sign C AJ Jenks to Entry Level Contract

April 28, 2010 - By

Shawn Matthias will likely earn a full time job with the Florida Panthers next season and today the Panthers signed his likely replacement for the Amerks, AJ Jenks from the Plymouth Whalers.  The kid has put up some good numbers in the OHL, here’s hoping he can continue in the AHL.

Here’s the press release:

SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today the club has agreed to an entry level contract with C AJ Jenks.

Jenks, 19, played in 52 games with the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) this season placing second on the team in goals (23), assists (40) and points (63), finishing behind the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting No. 1 prospect Tyler Seguin. Jenks, who served as Plymouth’s team captain played in nine playoffs games this year with the Whalers scoring four goals with eight assists.

The Wolverine Lake, MI native won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan, recording five points (3-2-5) in 7 games. Jenks was drafted by Florida with their fourth choice (100th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

A couple of new faces will likely arrive in Rochester in a few days as the Panthers start signing drafted players to entry level contracts now that their junior seasons are finishing up.  The first player being Adam Comrie who just signed a three year entry level contract with the Florida Panthers.  The defenseman had 14 goals and 26 assists for the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League in the regular season.  In five playoff games the defenseman had one goal and two assists.

A.J. Jenks, a winger from the the Plymouth Whalers is also expected to sign his entry level contract in the coming days.  In 52 games for the Whalers in the regular season Jenks tallied 23 goals and 40 assists.  He played in nine playoff games and scored four goals and had eight assists.

Comrie was a third round pick and Jenks a fourth round pick in 2008.  Comrie’s contract still needs to be approved by the NHL but that should go through with no problems.  The same for Jenks once he officially signs.

Randy Sexton told Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel that both are likely headed to Rochester for the playoffs but neither was on [...]Read More
