Amerks Extend Win Streak in Shootout Win Over Bulldogs

April 4, 2010 - By

The Rochester Americans are doing everything right at the right times and it’s paying off, the Amerks extended their win streak to three games with a huge shootout win against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday night on the road.  Tyler Plante was perfect in the shootout stopping four Bulldogs and Evgeny Dadonov and Maxime Gratchev to lead the Amerks to their third straight win.

This resurgence of the Amerks started last Wednesday and they have not shown any signs of letting up since then.  Tyler Plante has been superb in net and Graham Mink is finally getting the puck to hit his stick.

Matt Duffy was called up from the Florida Everblades on Saturday and he wasted no time back in his role on the power play with an assist on the first goal.  Duffy shot the puck from the blue line at Graham Mink tipped the puck past Cedrick Desjardins only 57 seconds into the second period.

The Amerks took a 2-0 lead at 3:42 of the second period when Andrew Sweetland took the puck down the right side boards and the shot he took was kicked out to the front of the net, off one of the Bulldogs [...]Read More

Bulldogs Win; Bonneau and Duco Fight Videos

January 23, 2010 - By

The Hamilton Bulldogs easily defeated the Amerks by the final score of 6-1 on Friday night and I think the game can be summed up by saying that they had a great defense and Rochester did not.  The Bulldogs defense kept the amount of real scoring chances for the Amerks to a minimum and when there was a good chance Cedrick Desjardins was there to make the stop.

(fight videos below)

A respectable crowd of 5,671 showed up but was unfortunately delivered a stinker of a game.  At least they got to see two fights and drink some $1 beers and eat $1 hot dogs.

The first five minutes of the game made it seem as if it could be a competitive battle between the two teams.  That changed quickly though after Hamilton scored two quick goals off some mistakes by the Amerks.

Alexander Salak was pulled after the first period and Tyler Plante went into the game to play the final 40 minutes.  Yes the goalies allowed a total of six goals but I don’t think they can be blamed for the loss.  If anything the two goaltenders who had been out injured suffered the [...]Read More

Gameday: Amerks Going for Fourth Straight vs Bulldogs

January 22, 2010 - By

The AHL All-Star break is over and it’s time to head into the final months of the 2009-2010 hockey season and the race in the North Division is going to be a close one.  The Hamilton Bulldogs started to pull away a little bit but with a three game winning streak the Amerks are back within seven points.  A three game home stand for the Amerks should be just what they need to get themselves back in the race.

There was a combined 10 regulation goals scored in the previous meeting between these two teams last week so it’ll be interesting to see if both teams really have figured each other out.  Alexander Salak and Cedrick Desjardins were both at the AHL All-Star Game this week and will be riding the momentum of that experience.  I could be wrong though and Sanford could get the start.

I would say that Graham Mink is probably for the game.  He has skated in practice for two weeks now and played fine at the All-Star game (even though there was no contact).  If he’s back in the lineup and 100% on a line with Dadonov and Taylor along with [...]Read More
