Amerks Lose Second Straight On The Road. 8-3

October 26, 2008 - By

The Bears and Amerks were supposed to renew their rivalry tonight in Hershey.  And if they did, the Bears came out on top big time.

I really don’t even have words to show my dissapointment in tonight’s game.  I would like it if Curt Styres or someone from the Amerks would give me back my $6 I paid to watch this game on my computer.

The first period and a half weren’t too bad.  The Bears would score then the Amerks would tie it up.  Then the flood gates broke open and the Bears scored three axtra goals by the end of the second making the score 5-2.

The third period was just sad, the Bears scoring three more goals while the Amerks managed to squeeze one more in.

Tyler Plante was in goal.  He really didn’t look as bad as it may sound.  Hershey had 50 shots on goal while the Amerks only put up 16 all together.  I mean seriously…the Bears had 23 shots in the 2nd period alone…

Goals for the Amerks were as follows:

Mike Duco (Micflicier, Ellerby) 19:23 in the first period.

Jacob Micflikier (Duco, Brine) 4:52 in the second period

Kenndal McArdle [...]Read More

Thursday Morning Amerks' Practice 10-23-2008

October 23, 2008 - By

Here we are again at the arena (my son’s favorite thing to do on a Thursday morning).  Practice isn’t under way yet, but there is someone on the ice…

Jordan Henry is skating by himself right now.  Doing some good ol’ fashion skating drills on his own.  He looks pretty good.  Hopefully, that knee sprain is getting healed up nicely.  He left the ice before Bob Janosz came out so, I am assuming at this point that he isn’t going to be skating with the team still.

Some new additions to the ice today.  Rory Fitzpatrick is practicing with the team today.  Let’s hope we see him on the ice tomorrow.  He may not be the best defenseman in the world, but he is our captain and our team’s elder and that is needed on the ice for this winless team.

Also on the ice today is Karl Stewart.  His immigration problems must have gotten resolved like Tyler Plante said they would.  Lastly, the newest member of the Amerks’ squad, Jacob Micflikier is here and ready to play.  Doning the number 41, let’s hope he has more heart than the 41 before him.  It’s funny to [...]Read More

Prospects in the Everblades

October 17, 2008 - By

The Florida Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.  They are also the AHL affiliate of the Rochester Americans and Albany River Rats.

The Everblades start their 08/09 regular season on Friday night against the Charlotte Checkers.  Incidentally, the Checkers just sign Amerks alumni Sean McMorrow.

A number of players on this years Amerks roster spent time last season with the Everblades, including Franklin MacDonald, Tyler Plante, Dan Collins, Kenndal McArdle, Jordan Henry, and Peter Aston.

The number of players associated with the Everblades this season is lighter as the Panthers are the sole affiliate of the Amerks.  While sharing an affiliation with the Sabres last season in Rochester, they were able to keep many players with the Everblades.

The Panthers only prospect currently slated to play with the Everblades is James DeLory.  DeLory is currently recovering from a concussion, once he’s healed from that he will officially be on the Blades roster.

Jacob Micflikier was invited to Amerks camp and was reassigned to the Everblades.

Yannick Tifu is also playing for the Everblades this season, he was signed to a PTO towards the end of the 07/08 season with the Amerks.  He played in [...]Read More
