Survey: Sabres Logo vs No Logo on the Amerks Jerseys

Short and simple, follow the link below and take this quick survey and we’ll pass along the results to Ted Black of the Buffalo Sabres.  It has two simple questions, “A Buffalo Sabre logo is being considered for the Rochester Amerk’s jersey. Please tell us to what degree you agree or disagree with a Sabre’s logo being on the Amerk’s jerseys” and asking if you’re a season ticket holder, plan to be or if you’re not. What weight does the second question have?  That’s up to the people making the decision.

A disclaimer of sorts…. This in no way guarantee’s that the results will or will not influence a decision but we’re taking it upon ourselves to give fans a way to voice their opinions and we’ll pass it on. No one from the Amerks or Sabres asked us to do this.

Please pass this link around to anyone you know who has an opinion:

The Ice and Logos Are Down and 3rd Jerseys Unveiled Tuesday

The first layers of the ice are covering the concrete and the logo and advertisements were being finished up on Monday evening and that means it’s almost time for the first puck to hit the ice.  That first puck will drop on Wednesday morning when the Florida Panthers hold a full practice at Blue Cross Arena.

The preseason game on Thursday is when we should get our first look at some potential players that will be in an Amerks uniform.

Before any of that happens, everything is falling into place that really has no effect on the standings but is still relevant news.  The schedule has been announced, tickets are on sale, promotions have been announced and now on Tuesday afternoon we’ll get to see the new third jerseys.  I have not seen them myself but I’m told they have a very nice “simple” look to them.  The team is holding a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at 3pm at Blue Cross Arena.  Stop down if you’re in the area, it’s open to the public.

The Amerks will wear four different jerseys this season.  They’ll have the standard white and blue jerseys.  The 3rd jersey being shown off on Tuesday [...]Read More

Amerks Unveil Jerseys and Radio Info

September 11, 2009 - By

The Amerks showed off the changes to their jerseys today for the upcoming season and also announced radio details.

The change in the jerseys is the return of the horizontal stripes across the bottom of the jerseys along with bringing back the blue jerseys for road games.  The striping had originally disappeared because Rbk said they were not possible which it turns out wasn’t true.  The jerseys look a lot better with them back on.

The team also announced that the Amerks signed a 3yr deal with Clear Channel to air games on WHTK-AM 1280 which is now also being simulcasted on WROO-FM 107.3 in Rochester.  The team will also being airing the in arena pre and post game shows on the radio where they’ll be recapping games, conducting interviews, and also have the ability to take phone calls.

Also announced was that Ted Nolan will have a weekly show with John DiTullio at 4:05pm to talk hockey.  Nolan said the show will, “give fans a chance to vent but hopefully it’ll be talking about excitement with the team.”  The show will debut on September 30th.

Talking about Mike Sgroi, Ted Nolan said that Jody Gage [...]Read More

Amerks to Unveil Jerseys and Announce Radio Broadcast

September 5, 2009 - By

The Rochester Americans will be holding a press conference next Friday September 11 to unveil the jerseys the team will be wearing for the upcoming season as well as announcing the radio broadcast.

The team will be wearing white, blue, and stars and stripes jerseys for the 2009/2010 season.  The white and blue jerseys will have the horizontal striping around the bottom of the jerseys.  The stars and stripes jerseys are expected to be the same or similar to the ones the team wore during the 1995/1996 Calder Cup Championship season.

The details will also be announced about the Amerks radio contract with Clear Channel.  They’ll also be talking more about the post-game show and other promotional opportunities.

What is expected and what we’re all hoping to hear is that the Penalty Box post game show with Craig Schaller will no longer be on the air (or at least not directly following Amerks games).  The ideal situation is that the post game show with Ric Seiling will be broadcast from the arena live on the radio.  This will be excellent for fans to be able to tune in on the ride home from the game to listen to interviews and [...]Read More

Amerks Jersey Ranked 2nd by The Hockey News

August 13, 2009 - By

The Hockey News ranked jerseys last year based on the teams logo, this year they decided to go by patches, striping, and piping to rank the jerseys.  I also need to mention colors as well.

The Amerks were ranked second for a “Classic crest with a clean look to it.”  I’m not quite sure how the Milwaukee Admirals got the top spot.  In a typically boring month for hockey news this is what we get.

Take the time to visit The Hockey News web site to vote for the Rochester Americans jersey as the best in the AHL – http://thehockeynews.com/pages/puck_poll.php

Two teams missing are the Texas Stars and Abbotsford Heat because the teams have not officially launched their jerseys.  To view what was actually said about each jersey click here – http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/27493-.html.

Here’s the straight rankings:

1. Milwaukee Admirals
2. Rochester Americans
3. San Antonio Rampage
4. Springfield Falcons
5. Manchester Monarchs
6. Worcester Sharks
7. Norfolk Admirals
8. Bridgeport Sound Tigers
9. Peoria Rivermen
10. Chicago Wolves
11. Manitoba Moose
12. Houston Aeros
13. Hershey Bears
14. Toronto Marlies
15. Grand Rapids Griffins[...]Read More
