Amerks Pickup First Shootout Win of the Season

January 16, 2010 - By

The positive on Friday night was that the Amerks were able to win in a shootout over the Hamilton Bulldogs to add a much needed two points to the standings.  The five regulation goals were all scored by different players with Evgeny Dadonov, Daniel Steiner, and Jeff Taffe leading the way in the shootout.  Alexander Salak stopped three of five shots in the shootout to pickup the win.

Steiner had another multiple point game along with a shootout goal as he makes a case for himself to earn a standard contract for the rest of the season.  He’s certainly a player that has had no difficulties adjusting to a different style of game.

Goaltenders Alexander Salak for the Amerks and Cedrick Desjardins for the Bulldogs kept the game scoreless in the first period.  Both teams had a number of quality chances with each goalie making great saves.  Daniel Steiner had a total of 11 shots in the game with seven coming in the first period.

Those in attendance at the game got a great game to watch for the price of admission, especially if they were a Bulldogs fan.

The biggest news of the game was that Alexander Salak went down injured at 9:28 of the first period after Benoit Pouliot scored the first goal of the game.  He left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return.  The extent of his injury will be known more on Monday after he visits the doctor, but considering the fact he left the game in pain I expect he’ll miss some games.

Jamie Johnson talked about the injuries saying, “It just seems to keep coming if it’s up top or down here, someone within the organization [...]Read More
