Amerks Lose Second Straight To Binghamton 4-1

The Rochester Americans came out strong tonight in the first period.  Dan Collins scored his third goal of the season only 1:23 into the game.  His goal was assisted by Anthony Stewart and Rob Globke (both their 7th for the season).

The Amerks couldn’t hold the lead after that period though.  Niko Dimitrakos of the Senators scored 1:43 into the second period to tie it up and then Mapletoft scored shorthanded at 4:06 to take the lead.  The Amerks never put the puck in the net again.

At 12:48 in the second Denis Hamel scored.  The period ended with a score of 3-1.

Coming into the third, the Amerks were once again outshot substantially.  Denis Hamel of the Senators put one more away at 8:03 to make the final score 4-1.  His goals were his 9th and 10th of the season.

David Shantz stopped 32 of 36 shots on goal.  The Amerks were outshot 36 to 20 once again tonight.  The Amerks have been outshot most of this season and really need to pick up on the offense if they want to win more games.

Tomorrow, the team travels back home for their first game ever against the Lake Erie Monsters.  This new team is the farm team for the Colorado Avalanche.  This is the first of six games the two teams will play this season.  The game starts and 7:35 p.m. and will once again will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
