A Few Stats Six Games into the Season

Jason Garrison Takes down CrunchIs it a little early to start breaking down some stats?  Not at all.  The Amerks have a record of 4-1-1 and are one point out of first place in the division and two points out of first place IN THE LEAGUE.  They’re off to a fast start and are only getting better as they play.  The comeback win on Saturday against the Marlies shows a lot about this team, they can handle being down.

After the previous few seasons we need to enjoy this as much as we can, we deserve it!

Let’s take a look at some stats six games into the season:

** Four wins only six games into the season.  Last season season it took them 24 games to reach four wins.

** Nine points in six games.  During the 2008/2009 season it took the Amerks 24 games to reach the same level.

** The Amerks are ONE POINT out of first place in the division.  The Manitoba Moose have two games up on the Amerks.

** They are only two points out of first place in the conference and overall in the league.  The San Antonio Rampage have one game up on the Amerks and have 11 points.

** The last time the Amerks had a three game winning streak was February 9-15th 2008.

** Michal Repik has scored on half of the shots he has taken.  Five goals on 10 shots in five games.

** The Amerks are 7/28 on the power play.  They’re ranked 5th in the league.

** All seven power play goals have been scored at home.

** The penalty kill is 9th in the league.  They’ve given up 36 power play opportunities to the other team and allowed 5 goals.

** The Amerks lead the league with four short handed goals.

** David Brine has three goals in six games.  Last season he had eight goals in 79 games.

** Brine also leads the league with two short handed goals.

** 13 out of 25 skaters have scored at least a point already.

** 11 out of those 25 skaters have at least two points.

** Six players have two or more goals.

** The Amerks are fifth in the league in scoring with 21 goals.

The next game is Wednesday night.  The Rochester Americans vs the Binghamton Senators!
